Design the sentient machines to have a warning system at a different frequency to prevent accidents.
The prototype would be between automobiles and trains that would make the vehicle automatically slow down when approaching a railroad crossing.
If both the vehicle and the train are going at high/extreme velocities, then have both engines shut down and the brakes to lock in without causing unnecessary actions/damages such as "fish-tailing" and "track-jumping."
